13 Feb Protect Your Walls and Doorways During a Move
Moving with professionals instead of by yourself is the better option. If you cannot afford to use a professional service, then you or your friends may find yourself doing heavy lifting for the first time. When this happens, walls suffer from dings, scrapes, and scratches, which may cost you upon moving out. Take the time to learn a few things about home protection during a move by reading below.
• Mats and Rugs for Outdoors. Most homes come with a front door step. Once something heavy comes out the door, there are a ton of movements made to slide objects like a fridge or stove outside. When this happens, the tile outside on the ground or linoleum inside on the ground gets a nice round scratch. Protect beforehand accordingly.
• Remove the door. Movers take a hammer, towel, and screwdriver to remove the pins from your door. This allows for the door to come off, making things able to get through the doorway. Using a towel around the hammer prevents you from scratching a wall or door with it.
• Blanket your stairwell and counter corners with tape. Imagining your home entertainment center being carried down the stairs also comes with nicely done scratches on your wood and walls. You cannot use paper so easily as it will tear immediately. Using good tape to save your walls and counters will save you cash later on.
• Have a vacuum handy. You don’t know about rain or what’s goin’ on under your furniture. Patience is key to moving something without tons of nasty filth bein’ tracked around the rest of your home. Vacuuming the main doorway, or things recently moved, means less mess from shoes in it with more control of cleanliness.
Don’t be retroactive. Being proactive during a move makes your life easy. Allow for an extra hour or two to get things done better. Offering lunch allows an excuse to be slower than your help wanted you to be.
